Timothy Morris, of Raytown, enlists in National Guard

Timothy Morris, of Raytown, recently enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard and will serve with the Delta Battery, 1-129th Field Artillery in Independence.

In October, Morris will report to Fort Benning, Ga. for his Basic Combat Training. He will later receive training at Fort Sill, Okla. to become a cannon crewmember.

“I joined the National Guard for the service to my country, tradition and benefits,” said Morris. “After finishing my training, I plan to apply for officer candidate school.”

Upon enlistment, Morris will earn over $500 a month in GI Bill benefits plus 100 percent college tuition assistance.

In 2002, Morris graduated from Calvary Christian High School in Nevada and in 2009 graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. He is currently employed with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansa City.

Morris is the son Mike and Betty Morris of Moundville.
