On June 2nd at 1:00 AM Raytown Police officers were called to a home in the 8400 Block of Woodson Drive for 2 black males that had assaulted a home owner and his family during a robbery. Officers contacted the home owner and were told that when he arrived home and opened his garage door he was approached by 2 black males armed with handguns and forced into his residence. When taken inside, the suspects demanded items from his home and he fought back in an attempt to protect his family. During the struggle the home owner was injured and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The suspects were last seen driving away from the area in a red Monte Carlo.
Anyone with information about the man, or this crime, is asked to call the TIPS Hotline, at (816) 474-TIPS (8477).
Other sources identified the victim as 69-year-old John Saulsberry, who is married to Raytown School Board member Bobbie Saulsberry. The area of 84th and Woodson has had multiple burglaries in the last month.
