Ashley Schmidt, a four year starting varsity player at Raymore Peculiar (2 years) and Raytown South (2 years) signed her “National Letter of Intent” with Iowa Western Community College Sunday 1-15-2012. During her High School career she was named to the First Team “All-Conference” once, Second Team “All-Conference” twice and “All-District” twice, . As a sophomore at Raymore Peculiar High School she was named the Varsity Softball Team’s MVP.
Ashley is easy to coach. She has good work ethic and discipline. Ashley is talented, but strives to always be better. Ashley knows the game and is smart about how to play her opponents. “Ash” is a competitor! On the other hand, Ashley has a big heart and cares a lot about others. She understands that helping others on her team, only helps her. I wish I could have Ashley back to play more!

I have coached Ashley in Summer ball over the past five summers. I have never had a pitcher that can throw strikes consistently as Ashley Schmidt. Ashley has also pitched in some of the biggest games for the KC Freeze, and she has won most of those games. Ashley has become one of the best pitchers in the Kansas City area, due to her hard work and dedication to the game. When Ashley is on that mound, she shows very little emotion. I have never seen her get rattled during a game. Her teammates all know that when she is on the mound, we are going to win the game. I am lucky to have her for one more summer, and her 2012 season should be a great one.
