Bluejay Pride Marching Band keeps on Winning

The Raytown High School Bluejay Pride Marching Band has assembled a streak of successful contests during their fall marching season. The 90 member unit began competition on September 24.

At the Webbstock Marching Festival in Webb City, Missouri, the band was 3rd in class 5A Red in preliminary competition and 7th over all after Finals competition (29 bands total). This is the second time in four years the band has placed in finals.

On October 11th they competed at the Missouri Western Tournament of Champions in St. Joseph, Missouri. They were 2nd in class 2A , with 5 classes total divided by band size. There was no finals division in the St. Joseph competition.

On October 22 the band competed in the Odessa Marching Invitational. In the indoor competition the color guard finished 1st in class and 3rd overall out of nine groups. Also in indoor competition, the drum line finished 1st in class and 1st overall out of eight groups.

In the field show the band finished 2nd in class and 2nd overall out of 14 bands, continuing to improve as they reach the end of their season. They will compete on October 29 at the Festival of Champions at the University of Central Missouri.

The band is under the direction of Joseph Hill.
