Bomb Threat at Walmart

At about 6:00 pm employee and customers evacuated the Walmart on 350 Highway. Nothing has happened for 2 hours now. It is rumored that similar threats have been made targeting other Walmart stores in the area. In specific Gladstone Walmart. The all clear was given at about 8:30 pm.

More on this as it develops. I will add photos and video to this post after they have been processed.

From the Raytown Police Department.

Police received a call to the Raytown Walmart at about 6:00 P.M. on Friday (07/27/2012), in regard to a phoned in bomb threat. The store was evacuated of customers and employees for safety reasons. A search of the building was conducted and with the assistance of the Olathe Fire Department Emergency Services and their bomb and arson K-9. No suspicious items were found. The store resumed normal operations at approximately 8:30 P.M. No injuries or damages were reported. The investigation is continuing.


The cites that had a bomb threat to their Walmart are Raytown, Gladstone, Jefferson City, Nixa, Ozark and Saint Peters. There is a report from one Walmart employee that the caller’s voice was sounded like a robot. This could mean a voice masking device or computer generated speech.
