Street Side car wash owner Mark Jones finally got an arrest of the man who has burglarized his business 19 times in the last two years. Burglaries that have cost $1,000 in cash loss, but 70 times that in damages. The conviction has not made Mr. Jones happy though, as the conviction of Shawn Sumner (28 years old KCMO resident) was only for a misdemeanor and the sentence was only a year’s probation.
Mr. Sumner receiving such a light sentence for the offense is interesting to say the least, since he just finished two years of probation for possession of burglary tools on August 27th of 2010. The arresting agency in that case was also the Raytown PD. It seems that Mr. Sumner has a fondness for committing crime in Raytown.
It should be noted that the prosecution happened in Jackson County Court, not Raytown Municipal Court.
