At a special called business meeting Sunday, July 22, after nearly a yearlong pastor search, First Baptist Church of Raytown unanimously voted to welcome Dr. Brandon S. Park as its new senior pastor, an invitation Park happily accepted.
“We were praying that God would confirm us coming to Raytown with perhaps a 90% vote Sunday night, and we were just blown away that it was a unanimous, 100% vote,” said Park in a video address to the church. “We’re thrilled. We’re so excited. We cannot wait to be back here with you.”
Though Park, who is coming to First Baptist Raytown from Wayside Baptist Church of Miami, Fla., is only 30 years old, his resume boasts 11 years as a senior pastor. His education, also extensive for such a young pastor, includes a B.S. in Religion from Liberty University and a M.A. in Religion, Masters of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry, all from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Va.
First Baptist Raytown’s Senior Pastor Search Team, which included nine church members, spent nearly a year seeking a pastor with such impressive qualifications, who would also be a perfect fit for the church, but the team wasn’t exactly looking for Park.
“The Lord literally gave us Brandon and Carrie. We didn’t go find him,” said Bruce Rosenbaum, chairman of the search team. “The Lord literally gave him to us through a series of extraordinary events that only the Lord could have orchestrated. … Their presence here is a blessing on our church directly from the Lord.”
Park and his wife, Carrie, feel that same blessing from the Lord and are excited to call First Baptist Raytown home. Park and his family plan to be back at First Baptist Raytown the beginning of September, Park preaching his first sermon as senior pastor on Sunday, September 9.
“We’re looking forward to great things and great vision of experiencing what God has in store for this church,” said Park. “I believe God that has some great plans and great things in store for this great church.”
Sunday services at First Baptist Raytown are held at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. For more information about Park or First Baptist Raytown, visit www.FirstBaptistRaytown.com.
