Public Works

Public Works is reviewing the bids for the Downtown Streetscape Project and has not received approval from Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to award the project yet. Because the project has not been approved by MoDOT, the item was removed from the March 5th

Board of Aldermen meeting agenda. Staff will utilize the time to identify items that may be removed from the project to lower the overall construction cost.

Two recent record setting snow storms prompted Public Works to initiate two 12 – hour work shifts to staff the snow response duties. The first storm arrived on the morning of February 21st and the second arrived in the early morning hours of February 26th. Both snow storms set the daily record for snow fall in one day. Public Works completed the response to the February 21st storm event by the end of the day on February 22nd. The Public Works response to the February 26th event started the evening of the 25th with salt pretreatment. The department ended its duties at 6:00 a.m. on the 28th  after the crews had cleared the piled snow from the downtown area.

Public Works received authorization from MoDOT to bid the 350 Highway Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail Project. The notice to bid has been issued and plans are available at Drexel Technologies. The bids will be opened at 2:00 p.m. on March 26, 2013.
