City Administrator’s Report for 6/28/2013

Public Works

Wiedenmann & Godfrey Construction has completed the sewer line replacement portion of the project at 85th and Ford to repair a partially collapsed sewer line. The contractor still has to complete the yard restoration in the area.
 
The Public Works crews are making good progress repairing asphalt in preparation for the asphalt overlay and light weight aggregate seal coat projects. The crews placed 14 tons of asphalt this week.
 
The White Oak West Line A Sanitary Sewer Project bids are due on Tuesday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m.
 
Vehicle Maintenance has been busy installing equipment in the new police vehicles. The Police Department received 5 new vehicles this year, 2 Ford sedan vehicles that closely resemble the Taurus and 3 Ford utility vehicles that closely resemble the Explorer. One utility vehicle is in service and one sedan will be in service next week. The remaining vehicles should be in service in two weeks.

Congratulations to Andy Boyd, Edwina Long, Nancy Lavoie, James McKay and Ray Haydaripoor. They have received certification for Customer Service from the Mid-America Regional Council. The certification requires classroom work as well as a plan of action for their current position.
 
Police Department

Midwest Underground, the contractor for Verizon Wireless will begin construction activities for the cell tower during the week of July 1st. They should begin moving equipment in on Monday, with activities expected to last approximately 3 weeks. Once Verizon completes their install, Motorola will begin the installation of our radio equipment here.
