Information Technology

Public Works’ Fleet Controller Management and Fuel Master Management applications have been updated along with new computer hardware and operating system updates. The database updates reduces analysis time and gives improved performance over a wide variety of reports.

Parks & Recreation

“Bark in the Park” activities are planned for September 8th in Kenagy Park. Enjoy a beautiful walk you’re your best friend through the park and browse vendor booths with the latest in pet products and services. Enter free contests such as; Best Tail Wag, Best Costume, Bark and Howl Contest, Wackiest Dog Trick, Best Kisser, and a Peanut Butter eating contest. , and meet adoptable dogs. Highlights include obedience group demonstrations and an appearance by the big dog himself – K. C. Wolf (9:30am). There is no fee for this event and goody bags will be available while supplies last. If you have questions, contact the Park Office 358-4100.

Public Works

City Crews placed 21.5 tons of asphalt patch on Harris Avenue from Blue Ridge Boulevard to 54th Terrace and should complete preparation work for the Light Weight Aggregate Seal Coat (LWASC) project next week. The contract for the LWASC project is on the September 4th Board of Aldermen agenda and if awarded, the work should commence the week of September 17th and last about a week and half.

The concrete curb, sidewalk, and pavement replacement project contractor has finished all concrete work ahead of schedule however, still has some minor asphalt repair work to be 100% complete.

Milling work is expected to start early next week and the paving will start the following week for the roadway asphalt overlay project award to Superior Bowen Asphalt Company, and the contractor is anticipating completion by the end of September.

Staff has applied and Raytown has been recommended to receive a $160,000.00 Congestion Mitigation / Air Quality grant for the construction of sidewalks along 59th Street from Central Middle School East to Woodson Road. The recommendation will be considered by the Total Transportation Policy Committee of the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and if approved will be final. The grant will provide funding for the construction of sidewalk in 2014. The project will construct sidewalk along the south side of 59th Street and install cross walks at intersections. The project will maintain the current open channel storm drainage along 59th Street and should not require any additional right of way or easements to construct the project.
