City Administrator’s Report

Administration

The Shepherd’s Center will sponsor their annual Used Book Sale on September 21st and 22nd, at the Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Proceeds will go to support programs and services for Raytown’s older adults.

With September being National Preparedness Month, First Baptist Raytown (FBR) will host a Red Cross Shelter Training program on September 29th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. FBR has been designated as a disaster shelter for the State of Missouri and surrounding states. Questions can be addressed by calling Michelle, 816.778.1148, or FBR.

EMS

Staff wishes to thank all those who donated blood at the Community Blood Center Blood Drive at Raytown EMS on August 31st. There were 26 donors, of which 10 were first time donors, and the goal of 15 units was exceeded.

Parks & Recreation

Hope Network is sponsoring a 5K Walk/Run on October 6th, at First Baptist Raytown, with the Run starting at 8:30am and the Walk at 8:35am. Awards will be given for the top overall male and female runners, under and over the age of 40. Walkers can enter as individuals, families, or a team or group. Entry fee is $30.00 and proceeds go to sponsor Hope Network programs. Questions can be directed to 816.778.1105 or 778.1148.

Police Department

Along with the Missouri Rural Water Association and Public Water Supply District #2, the Raytown Police are sponsoring a “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on Saturday, September 29th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The Drug Take-Back Events allows residents the opportunity to dispose of their unwanted pharmaceuticals and over the counter medications in a proper manner. Drop off locations are at the Apple Market (350 Hwy and Raytown Rd) and the Raytown Plaza (63rd and Blue Ridge Blvd).
