The Missouri Public Service Commission approved a rate increase for KCP&L in the old Aquilla territory. The increase granted by the Public Service Commission was $59.4 Million as compared to the request of $97.9 Million that KCP&L originally requested. The rate increase will be effective as of June 4, 2011. The rate increases were not equal between the two areas served by KCP&L; L&P area is the old St. Joseph Power and Light, MPS is the area that serves Raytown. The MPS tariffs have increased 6% which is much less than the requested 15.2% increase.
