FARRAND FARMS CELEBRATES TOMATO FAIR
SATURDAY, AUGUST 6th, 2011
9:00 AM UNTIL 1:00 PM

Join us at the Farrand Farms Tomato Fair from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th, 2011. Our gardening celebration will feature timely tips by local gardening experts, Tomato Experience Table (sniffing and tasting), vegetable trial garden and fun for every member of the family. Meet Kansas City celebrities Jasper Mirabile, Jr. (chef and host of LIVE! From Jasper’s Kitchen on KCMO 710 AM, Tobin Tobin (gardening expert and host of The Toby Tobin Show on News Radio 980 AM) and Channel 9 News Anchor Larry Moore. Enjoy on-site cooking demonstrations/workshops by Jasper Mirabile, Jr., the Herb Lady (Lenora Wuattoux) and Chef Aubrey. Learn ways to make your gardening easier with information from several community agencies. Contests include:

· 4 categories for Tomatoes: The Big, the Best, the Ugly and the Junior (for 12 and under gardeners)
· 2 for Salsa: Hot and Mild (bring recipe and 1 qt. of salsa)

Entries are accepted from 9:00 – 11:30 am on Saturday, August 6th, 2011.

YOU can be the judge of the Salsa winners. Open taste testing for the public. Winners will be announced shortly after Jasper’s workshop.

Suggested $3 donation for ages 13 and above to benefit Saint Luke’s Women’s Heart Center.

Family owned, Farrand Farms has been producing vegetables and tomatoes in the same location since 1924. For over four generations, Farrand Farms, Inc. has grown plants and evolved into one of Kansas City’s finest destination garden centers.

Easy directions to Farrand Farms:

Take the Noland Road Exit (Exit 12) off I-70 and travel 1.5 miles south. OR

From I-470, take the Hwy 350 West exit (towards Raytown) and travel 1.5 miles to Noland Road. Turn right (north) onto Noland Road. The farm will be 4 miles down in the valley.
