Flag Day at Fort Osage National Historic Landmark

In observance of Flag Day on June 7, Jackson County Parks + Rec invites you to a special program devoted to the history and traditions of the American flag.
Presented at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., this informative presentation includes a representative display of flags from different periods of American history.

A special segment will provide information on how to preserve your heirloom flag and proper flag etiquette. The public is invited to witness the formal lowering of the 15 star garrison flag at 4:00 p.m. in the redoubt.

Fort Osage was established in 1808 by William Clark as a military and trade center. During its brief 20 year occupation it served a pivotal role in the exploration of the western frontier. The fort was reconstructed in the 1950s and was designated a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior in 1964.
