Recognizing the outstanding service of Raytown 911 Telecommunicators is the purpose of next week’s observance of “National Public Safety Telecommunications Week,” April 14-20.
The city of Raytown will honor the employees with an official proclamation signed by the Mayor of the City of Raytown and the Board of Aldermen. “When residents dial 9-1-1, that first calming voice they hear on the other side of the line is the link between them and the emergency services they need,” says Mayor David Bower. “Our dispatchers handle thousands of calls each year, helping residents through every type of emergency situation. Raytown is very fortunate to have such an excellent and committed staff in our Operations Center, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” We have seven dispatchers on staff.
Raytown 911 Emergency Communications received more than 50,000 emergency calls in 2012. The 911 Emergency Communications Department currently dispatches for police, fire, and Emergency Medical Services. In off hours they respond to neighborhood service calls, animal control and utility emergencies.
Bower reminds citizens to contact 911 when they need police, fire and/or emergency ambulance service response.
