More on the recent burglary

Two KC men charged in Raytown burglary that ended in gunfire on July 3, 2016, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Arnett W. McNeal Jr., dob: 6/6/1971, faces Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer in the 1st Degree, and Burglary in the 2nd Degree, while Saintino J. Garner, dob: 3/18/1996, faces Burglary in the 2nd Degree.*

According to court records, the defendants told Raytown Police Department detectives that they entered the home and grabbed a change jar, a handgun and other items. When police entered the residence, Arnett said he panicked. Police video showed McNeal grabbed a gun and pointed it, then the officer fired at McNeal.

The incident remains under investigation.

Office XXX walked up to the  door that led inside the house. Inside the house the lights were. illuminated . Det. YYY  saw an entry way with what appeared to be a washer and dryer just inside and to the left. Det. YYY saw what appeared to be glass on the entry way door and a single broken window pane out of the door. Officer XXX walked inside the threshold. Del. YYY immediately saw two black males inside a kitchcn that was directly inside the entry way. The two black males had items in their hands. One male wearing a red colored sweatshirt appeared to be holding clothing while the other male wearing a grey colored sweatshirt appeared to be holding ajar of some sort.

The male in the red colorcd sweatshirt was latcr identified as Saintino J. Garncr a black male born, 03·18- 1996.  The male in the grey colored sweatshirt was later identified as Arnett Waymon McNeal Jr. a blaek male born, 06-06- 1971.

Officer XXX yelled “Hands! Gel on the ground! Gel on the ground both of you! “As Officer XXX was giving commands McNeal grabbed what appeared to be a black colored handgun kitchen table that he was standing next to.  McNeal grabbed the gun with his left hand and pointed  it at Officcr XXX.  Officer XXX fired one gunshot at McNeal. McNeal dropped the gun and remained standing. Officer XXX gave both McNeal and Garner commands to get on the ground. Both complied and laid down on the floor. Officer notified Police Headquarters that ” shots were fired”.  McNeal said, “You shot me”. Officer XXX asked where McNeal was shot. McNeal responded with , ” In the stomach” . Officer XXX notified  he needed an ambulance.

Officer XXX placed McNeal in handcuffs. Officer XXX asked someone if they could handcuff Garner. Det. YYY  then saw Officer ZZZ in the kitchen placing handcuffs on Garner.
