Raytown High School Talking Blue Jays news

The Raytown High School Talking Blue Jays Speech and Debate team has opened its competition season.

At the Belton Student Congress Tournament on October 7 and 8, top finishers for Raytown were Claire Robinson, 1st place in the varsity division, Josh Ethridge, 4th place in the varsity division, Paige Keeton, 5th place in the varsity division, and Tamela Hill, 4th place in the novice division.

At the Blue Springs Novice Tournament on October 14 and 15 Derrick Gleese?Hall with Todne Kellem finished 2?2 in policy debate. At the Blue Springs South Varsity Tournament on the same weekend, Josh Ethridge finished 2nd in Student Congress and 9th in Public Debate with Jeffri McIntosh. Emma Givens reached the Semifinals in Original Oration, and McIntosh reached the Super Session of Student Congress.

The team competed at the Lee’s Summit and Lee’s Summit North Invitationals on October 27 and 28. First year top competitors were Erica Bess, 5th in Poetry Reading and Semi?Finals of Dramatic Interpretation, Amber Causey with Bess, 5th in Public Forum Debate, Ian Hunter with Kastasya Jackson, 6th in Public Forum Debate, and Raven Gillians with Anthony Winningham , 9th in Policy Debate.

Varsity top finishers were Samantha Causey and Blake Shepheard, Super Session of Student Congress, and Samantha Causey, 9th in Lincoln?Douglas Debate.
