Raytown man charged with firing multiple times into vehicle, killing one, injuring others

deandre_m_jackson2A 24-year-old Raytown, MO, man faces a murder, assault and other felony charges for firing multiple times into a stranded vehicle with four women, killing one and injuring others, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Deandre M. Jackson, dob: 12/1/1991, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, three counts of Assault 1st Degree, and five counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*

According to court records filed today, police were dispatched on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, to 21st and Cleveland on a shooting and found four female victims who were suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Maryanna Pennington, died from her wounds.

Investigation of the scene, according to court records, revealed that the victim’s vehicle had stopped due to a broken front axle. The victims had called for assistance. Nearly three dozen shell casings were found at the scene around the vehicle. Witnesses and victims told police that a shooter was “Day Day” who was Deandre Jackson. One said he had been fighting with one of the victims that day. Another witness also identified the defendant as the person who opened up the front passenger door of the stranded vehicle and shot into the vehicle.

Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000 cash. The case remains under investigation.
