The Raytown School Board first voted on the contract to ACI/Boland for the design of repairs, upgrades, renovations and the creation of a football stadium at Raytown South High. Next was a presentation of the designs for the work to be done, a discussion, and finally a vote to place a $25 million dollar bond to finance the work on the April 2014 ballot.
The bond will pay for repairs to roof and plumbing, upgrade security surveillance, remodel entrances for security, and of course the new stadium. Below is the Raytown School District’s press release
The Raytown School District Board of Education adopted a resolution calling for a special election on the question of Issuance of General Obligation Bonds of Consolidated School District No. 2 (Raytown) of Jackson County, Missouri.
The no tax levy increase bond issue will be placed on the Tuesday, April 8, 2014 ballot and will address critical upgrades to the District’s electrical, plumbing, structural, and technology systems in addition to other essential projects.
“Our buildings are aging with most constructed in the 70s and 80s,” Superintendent Dr. Allan Markley said. “Any home or business owner can relate to the fact that you experience significant corrosion of materials over the years. The projects addressed in this bond issue will allow us to be proactive and maintain an environment that fosters an exceptional, well-rounded education.”
