Raytown School District awarded two Missouri Improvement Grants

The Raytown School District has been awarded two Missouri Improvement Grants from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) provides a proactive approach for clearly identifying and teaching behavioral expectations with a framework of consistency, common language, and recognition for students who are meeting expectations.

PBS focuses on contexts and outcomes of behaviors. Initial data from the program shows decreased problematic student behavior district- wide. Some grant funds will be used for ongoing staff training, while other funds will be used for incentives.

“The hope is that students have fewer behaviors that interfere with instruction, allowing them to be more focused on academic success,” Dr. Staci Mathes, Director of Student Support Services said.

This is the third consecutive year that the Raytown District has been a Missouri Improvement Grant recipient.
