Shooting in Raytown Quickly Becomes Homicide Case

raytown-police-looking-for-graphic-designer-to-design-new-logo-patchRaytown Police are at the scene of shooting in a parking lot at 66th Terr. and Raytown Rd. A few minutes before 6:00 p.m. this evening, a plain clothed officer in a nearby building radioed for patrol cars to meet him there where he had just heard the sound of shots. At about the same time, dispatchers were receiving a call of gunfire in the parking lot. The plain clothed officer radioed that a light grey or silver car with a “boxy” rear end appeared to be fleeing the scene and was last seen eastbound on 67th St. As Officers arrived it was reported that one man was shot and lying in the parking lot. That man was taken from the scene to an area hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The victim has not been identified.

Police say that it appears that the fleeing car, or one like it, had been in contact with the victim in the parking lot. It was reportedly occupied by at least three persons, and possibly more. Witnesses tell police that all of the persons involved appeared to be in their twenties, were black, and included both male and female. Any one with information about this, or any other crime are asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS (8477).

Two patrol cars were damaged in a non-injury collision while responding to the call.
