Student Approached by Suspicious Man at Bus Stop

raytown-police-looking-for-graphic-designer-to-design-new-logo-patchRaytown Police were alerted to a Raytown Central Middle School student that was approached by a suspicious man in the 7000 block of Willow, on Friday morning, 03-14-2014 around 7:20 a.m. The student, a 13 year old boy, was waiting at a school bus stop when approached. The man was driving an older model dark blue pickup truck. The man offered to give the boy a ride to school. When the man turned to clear his front seat, the boy ran home and the man left. The man was described as being a black male, between 30-40 years old, with short hair, and wearing a red and white shirt. There is no further description of the man or truck, at this time. The investigation of the incident is underway.

Raytown Police encourage parents to talk to their children about strangers and recognizing, and how to handle, potentially dangerous situations. Parents may choose to use the resources of the National Crime Prevention Council’s website, http://www.ncpc.org/topics/violent-crime-and-personal-safety/strangers, to start that conversation.
