Blue Ridge Blvd. United Methodist Church presents a week of FREE Musical Theater Workshops beginning Sunday, June 11 for “JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT”. (June 11-16, 5:30-8:00pm culminating in **one performance only!** Saturday, June 17 at 7:00pm. Involve the whole family, bring friends and relations! Attend all the workshops to learn the show, then at the end of the week perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s upbeat musical that tells the biblical story of Joseph and his many-colored coat. Workshops are free, open to all ages, no audition required. Please register on our websitewww.blueridgechurch.org The Raytown Summer Childrens Lunch Ministry does not have enough funds to complete its mission of providing free healthy lunches to low-income children in Raytown for the period between the end of Summer School and the start of the Fall semester. This is the seventh year for the program and the need exceeded their expected 600 children, an aditional 200 more children have shown up. They need your help.

RaytownOnline.com was invited to a celebration at the Hope & Healing Worship Center, located just East of Raytown Road on 67th St. We were greeted by Pastor Avery, good music, burgers on the grill and the site of a lot of children enjoying a bouncy tent.  Save the date for FBR’s FREE Community Carnival on Saturday, May 3, from 12:00-5:00 p.m. We’ll have over a dozen rides and inflatables for all ages, midway games, live entertainment, food, and more! Admission, rides, and games are free, making it FBR’s gift to the community. The only thing that costs is the delicious carnival food. The Community Carnival is open to everyone, so start inviting your friends and family to an event where they will have a blast!

One Spirit United Methodist Church Annual Rummage Sale
Thursday, January 30th from 4:00-6:00 PM Westridge Gardens is partnering with the Raytown Artist’s Associations to host the inaugural Artist of the Month reception featuring Artist, Dawn C. Thomas. The community is invited, at no charge, to come and enjoy refreshments, meet the artist, view the art, and possibly purchase a piece for home. The last Thursday of each month the reception will feature a different artist from the Raytown Artist’s Association. The receptions are an unique opportunity for the community meet the artist, see a variety of different styles of art and subject matters. About the Artist: Ms. Thomas has been painting for over 40 years. She studies with several nationally known watercolor artists annually. Her prize-winning work has been exhibited in area Art Show’s and Festivals in Kansas and Missouri; She has won many local and state awards. Ms. Thomas has a Master’s Degree in Art and taught high school art for 40 years. She has authored and published five books for art teachers. Since retirement in 2009, her work has been selected for National Juried shows across the USA. In addition, she also is known for large indoor and outdoor murals. “My subject matter is primarily floral and landscapes. The Architecture and culture of the Southwest has intrigued me. Like a magnet, I visit and paint in Taos, New Mexico yearly. My trademark vivid colors, strong emphasis on light and shadow, and unusual viewpoints help enhance the subjects I choose. Never without ideas, I’m always experimenting and evolving.” Inspiration comes from everywhere. Ms. Thomas holds memberships in the MO, AL, TX, IL, and Red River Watercolor Societies. Currently, she is the President of the Raytown Artist’s Association and a member of the Lee’s Summit Art Group. Her paintings can be seen at Image Gallery in Overland Park, Gott Art in Lee’s Summit, and St. Luke’s East. The artwork that is changed out at the beginning of the month at Westridge Gardens is located in living room and the front hallway. Anyone who is unable to attend the reception is encouraged to come out anytime through out the month. Each piece of artwork is accompanied by a small card noting the artist’s name, the work’s title, the purchase price, and the artist’s contact information. Each of these exquisite pieces is for sale, and anyone interested in purchasing a piece or two should contact each artist directly. Again, we love the Raytown Artist’s Association for choosing us to show off the great works of their amazing artists. Have the opportunity (at no cost) to renew your wedding vows during worship, then join us for a fun “wedding reception” following the service. Feel free to wear your wedding attire, and bring your camera for special photo ops! Sam Davis shows off his dogs ability to retrieve at Bark in the Park. The “Sit Means Sit” dog trainers gave a nice performance of their dogs doing tricks. When questioned about training cats, the replay was “no cats, husbands of wifes, just dogs.”

Reed and Bannister roads) in south Kansas City on Monday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. for open auditions for God’s Favorite, a comedy by Neil Simon, directed by Professor Ron Schaeffer from the Theatre Department at University of Missouri Kansas City. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, April 30 beginning at 7pm. Available roles include:
Rehearsals begin on May 20 at the church and will be held Mondays thru Fridays from 7:00 to 9:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The play will be presented on Friday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. 440 seats are available per performance and there is no charge to attend. A light meal will be available for $3. Ivanhoe United Church of Christ at 6512 Woodson Road is holding a charity auction on Saturday, October 20th to benefit REAP (Raytown Emergency Assistance Program) and Ivanhoe . The proceeds will be split 50/50. There will be a silent auction items and food available beginning at 5:00 pm, with a live auction to follow at 7:00 pm. We’ll also have items up for raffle, including a new iPad 3 and a new flat panel 32″ LCD HD TV!

The garden was located on the south side of City Hall, between the City Hall parking lot and 59 Street.
Baha’is of Raytown members, including Chairperson Karen Block, refurbished the site by removing leaves and debris, straightening the rock ground cover, and placing seasonal flowers and decorations. The mums and pumpkins were obtained from Bannister Garden Center. Free Respite Care through Breaktime Club of Shepherd’s Center of Raytown
The Breaktime Club program invites older care recipients with some limitations to enjoy a program which engages the body, mind and spirit. Caregivers are able to find comfort in the fact that their loved ones are enjoying a day of social interaction. The Breaktime Club provides respite for caregivers each Monday, empowering them to respond to their own needs and enhancing their ability as caregivers. The Breaktime Club meets every Monday at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church 5055 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm and includes a hot lunch. There are no cost or residency requirements to participate in this program. Funding is provided by Shepherd’s Center of America and Mid America Regional Council Department of Aging. A Caregiver’s Support Group meets the second Monday of each month at 9:30 at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church. Caregiver resources are shared by professionals in the field of aging to assist in caregiving knowledge. Each month a different speaker is featured. The Breaktime Club is one of several programs and services of the Shepherd’s Center of Raytown. The Shepherd’s Center of Raytown offers many programs that enable older adults to discover opportunities for continuing intellectual, social, and spiritual growth. These programs include: Adventures in (Lifelong) Learning, Exercise Group, Book Club, Bridge/Cards Group and Tai Chi Chih. In order to assist in aging in place for older adults, Shepherd’s Center of Raytown also provides the following services: Meals on Wheels, Senior Companion/Respite Care, Telephone Reassurance, Handyman Repair and Wheels that Care transportation assistance.
