The Raytown School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mary Beth Sprecher as the Program Coordinator for Northwood School. Sprecher replaces Penny Russell, who is retiring at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
Sprecher holds a Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Southwest Missouri State University, a Masters of Science in Special Education degree from the University of Kansas, and an Education Specialist Degree in Education from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Sprecher has most recently served in the Independence School District as a Special Education teacher at William Chrisman High School and prior to that as a Transition and Staffing Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal at Andrew Drumm High School.
Northwood School serves Raytown School District students with severe disabilities. The Northwood mission is to provide an educational environment which promotes social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and behavioral growth, while teaching functional life skills students will need in order to achieve individual levels of independence and to be contributing community members.
Sprecher will begin duties with the district in July.
